PAINTING TASTERS

i used to be an accountant
stuck in an office job
i found a new vocation
in the agua negra
wetsuit is my protection
hopefully it’s enough
somebody has to clear the drains
i know it’s dangerous

and if a hole appears
i won’t regret the years
keeping the sewers clear
so people can live better

i clean up corpses
mattresses and dead dogs
I know the city needs me
when there’s heavy runoff

i still have fear
